Dundee United battle back to claim draw with Dumbarton

Thomas Mikkelsen rescued a point for Dundee United as they battled back to secure a 2-2 draw with Dumbarton in the Ladbrokes Championship.

Tony Andreu opened the scoring for the third-placed Tangerines, who are just a point behind Falkirk, with a header in the 22nd minute.

But Dumbarton - now three points clear of Raith who occupy the relegation play-off spot - were back on level terms in the 35th minute through Robert Thomson, who headed home after United failed to clear their lines properly from a corner.

And the visitors went ahead in the 65th minute when Lewis Vaughan clipped the ball over Cammy Bell following good work from Sam Stanton.

However, Mikkelsen was in the right place at the right time to convert his chance after the initial shot was saved.
